Word for the Day: The Lord God Is…Sun, Shield, Grace, Glory, and Good (Psalm 84:11)

Word for the day is Psalm 84:11.  This verse tells us there are 5 things the Lord God is…Sun, Shield, Grace, Glory and Good.

“For the LORD God is our sun and our shield.  He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” Psalms 84:11 (NLT)

This verse is awesome and powerful and shows us 5 things things who the Lord God is.

The Lord God Is:

1- SUN – God is our sun, He is a light that shines and directs us to the right path.

2- SHIELD – He is our shield, our protector.

3- GRACE – He gives us grace, God’s willingness to get involved in our lives and my willingness to get involved in His (saying by Bishop Hugh Thomas).  God was willing to get involved with us by giving us His Son, Jesus.  It’s up to us to be willing to be involved with God by accepting Jesus in our hearts and confessing with our mouths that Jesus is Lord of our lives. (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 3:24 of NLT)

4- GLORY – He gives us glory.  As it says in John 17:22 NLT, Jesus says, “I have given them the glory you gave Me, so they may be one as we are one.”

5- GOOD – Not only is God good (and He is Good all the time), but God promises that He will not withhold any good thing to those who do what’s right, which is based on following or being obedient to God’s word.

Remember these 5 words to know who the Lord God is.  The fifth one says He promises to give us any good thing when I do what’s right (follow and obey God’s word).  So when you obey God’s word, expect to receive that “good thing”!

Praying God’s word:

Lord, your word says that you are my sun, shield, grace, glory, and you are good.  So Lord thank you today that you shine a light and direct me to the right path, and you are my protector.  Thank you for giving me your grace, your gift to me.  Thank you for giving me glory, as it says in John 17:22, as you gave Jesus glory, you have given it me.  And because I follow and obey your word, you promise to give me any good thing.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
